Autoridades policiais do Paraguai e do Brasil desmantelaram 38 acampamentos de processamento de drogas, apreenderam 30,9 toneladas de maconha e destruíram 65 hectares plantação em uma operação no departamento de Amambay, na fronteira norte do país, informou nesta segunda-feira a Secretaria Nacional Antidrogas (Senad). A operação, batizada de “Basalto II” e iniciada em 20 de setembro, impediu que 225,9 toneladas de maconha chegassem ao mercado, o que representa um prejuízo de US$ 6,7 milhões, cerca de R$ 33,9 milhões para o tráfico, informou a Senad em comunicado. Além do combate às drogas, foram realizados patrulhamentos fluviais, aéreos e terrestres, montagem de blitz e ações contra o contrabando, além de ter sido dada atenção aos habitantes locais, incluindo 79 famílias indígenas da comunidade Nuapy. As Forças Armadas, a Direção de Material de Guerra (Dimabel), a Polícia Nacional e a Direção Nacional de Receitas Tributárias também participaram das operações.
