Além de personagens conhecidos dos livros, os episódios apresentaram uma nova personagem inédita: Violet.
The Witcher acompanha a dura vida de Geralt de Rivia, bruxo e caçador de monstros solitário. Visto como um monstro por outras pessoas, por vezes vê mais crueldade nos humanos do que nas criaturas que é pago para matar. A trama tem início quando o destino do caçador se vê irreversivelmente ligado ao de uma poderosa feiticeira e o de uma jovem princesa.
