O Ministério dos Povos Indígenas anunciou novas medidas de apoio a povos indígenas da Terra Indígena Ibirama-LaKlanõ, em decorrência das fortes chuvas que atingem a região sul do Brasil, no Vale do Itajaí, em Santa Catarina, onde habitam povos Xokleng, Guarani e Kaingang.
Entre as medidas está a ampliação do efetivo da defesa civil, com levantamento de quantos indígenas já foram resgatados para local seguro e aqueles que ainda se encontram ilhados ou em situação de risco, visando acelerar as remoções. Também foi solicitado um levantamento das quantidades de alimento e água potável já disponibilizadas à população indígena resgatada, bem como apresentação de um plano de continuidade dessas medidas até o fim da situação de calamidade.
As autoridades também prosseguirão com o atendimento de saúde aos indígenas já resgatados, incluindo o fornecimento de medicamentos e de profissionais de saúde em número compatível com a população atingida.
O ministério determinou a apresentação imediata de laudo que comprove a segurança do comportamento das águas após o fechamento das comportas da Barragem Norte, sobretudo após o transbordo das águas acima da estrutura de contenção. Além disso, um plano de contingência deverá ser apresentado para o caso de rompimento da construção de contenção, que implicaria em inundações abruptas e sem precedentes no Vale do Itajaí, segundo o governo.
Outra iniciativa anunciada é a criação de um Gabinete interministerial de Crise Humanitária e Ambiental, que será composto por agentes federais, estaduais e da sociedade civil. O objetivo é realizar uma gestão integrada da situação emergencial, além de facilitar a interlocução entre agentes públicos e a população afetada.
