A Confederação Brasileira de Surf (CBSurf) e o Movimento Big Waves Brasil (BWB) lançaram neste domingo, dia 23, o sinal amarelo para a chamada do CBSurf Big Wave Mormaii. A competição nacional na Praia do Cardoso, em Laguna, determinará o primeiro campeão e a primeira campeã brasileiros de surf de ondas grandes da história da confederação.
O sinal amarelo significa que os competidores estão a sete dias de uma ondulação em potencial para a competição. Caso esta ondulação se confirme, quatro dias antes da competição será lançado o sinal verde, confirmando a realização do evento. Caso ela não se confirme será lançado o sinal vermelho, e a competição voltará a ficar à espera da próxima grande ondulação.
O evento patrocinado pelo Governo do Estado de Santa Catarina, por meio da Fundação Catarinense de Esporte, e pela prefeitura de Laguna será realizado em um único dia, no ápice da ondulação, que a princípio está prevista ou para domingo, dia 30, ou segunda-feira, dia 1º.
Conforme previsão, o gráfico mostrou um swell de direção S/SE, com período de 13 segundos e 3 metros de altura na boia, podendo gerar ondas acima dos 12 pés para a competição.
